About Greg Wood
Greg is passionate about youth education and development. He dedicated nearly 20 years positively impacting middle school through college aged kids, guiding them to learn life and leadership skills and how to overcome adversity. Greg taught his students skills that allowed them to build a path toward their own unique successes. Greg has traveled the world teaching leadership and teamwork to Fortune 500 companies through Olympic-style rowing and will bring those experiences to our Schools. Greg is happily married to his wife and is the father of three spectacular daughters. Greg is a life-long conservative who believes in family first, freedom, and our Country.
The educational success of our Sarasota's youth starts with a strong School Board. It is time to make our Schools the best in the State. If you agree, donate today and vote for Greg on August 20, 2024.
Let's make Sarasota County Schools:
#1 in Florida
Sarasota is often ranked one of the top places to live in the USA. Greg’s goal is to see our schools consistently ranked number one in the state of Florida. Our teachers, staff, students, and community deserve a school system that is built around student success. Each student graduating high school should leave school ready to excel in the workforce, college, or military.
Collaborative
When parents, teachers, students, and staff have mutual trust, communication and respect, education works better for all. Greg's experience building teams and effective systems will yield positive results for our youth and community as a whole. Political divisiveness has run its course in our schools and it is time to focus on what matters: the education and success of our kids.
Accountable to the Community
Accountability allows our children to have the best educational experiences and results. Greg will put emphasis on data, ensuring our programs and tax dollars are working effectively to educate our kids. Greg wants to earn back the trust of our community by enhancing budget accountability internally and prioritizing transparency at all levels.
Community Oriented
Greg moved with his family to Sarasota to continue his passion of educating and working with youth as the Head Coach and Executive Director of Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Program. Greg currently works as a Realtor; he made the change so he could be present for his kids while still continuing to work with people in the community. Greg's leadership and commitment consistently yields positive results for others. With Greg's leadership, his students achieved dreams they never thought possible: becoming a Navy SEAL, a Coast Guard officer, losing weight, improving grades, becoming an engineer, earning college scholarships, and many more. Greg will combine his business, teaching, and board experience to move our schools on a path toward student excellence.
